Equipped with mini bike and helmets, here they are ready to go. They are children who spend their summer holidays with their parents in Val Gardena and who do not want to miss the opportunity to learn a few tricks of mountain biking.
With experience, Mark has Vinatzer small biker and already controls if the “puppies”, children between 4 and 6 years, they know hop on your bike or not. MTB guide Ortisei, Mark is practical lessons with children. In winter there is a ski instructor for children and compares happily skiing lessons and lessons of MTB: “cycling and skiing are actually two very similar activities. Maintain balance, the central location, curb and negotiating bends They are fundamental practices of both disciplines. With targeted exercises you can then lighten the lesson and let the children learn quickly”.
With great patience in assisting small path drew for children Ortisei. On the part of flat lawn performing exercises to get on and off the bike. Only later did they begin to treat the curves on flat wooden supports which follow the shape of the curve and the rolling waves always built on special wooden cutlery and a short distance from the ground. “For us, cycling is the most natural thing in the world. Even as children we speed willingly on two wheels, discovering these surroundings. Personally it was a real surprise to find that many children, from big cities here for the holidays, do not have no experience of cycling, mountain biking and much less, “says Mark, who works for the school this season MTB Ortisei.
From 2013 Pauli Rabanser is director of the new MTB school in Val Gardena. The investment in trails to practice driving in the children’s bicycles and the formation of his team should not be underestimated. “No, I’d say no. We noticed that the guests who spend holidays here want to experience the mountains through mountain biking. Often, however, there are grounds to do so, and so we decided to create them,” says Pauli Rabanser.
Skillpark, Mountain School OrtiseiLa MTB school offers courses for “puppies”, for children from 7 to 12 years and for boys aged 13 to 15 years, but also adult education. Only once assodate the fundamental skills you switch to simple tour off the beaten path of practice. “The Val Gardena offers many possibilities for beginners. Forest roads or trails S0-S1: MTB beginners will find here the ideal conditions.”
Inaccessible to beginners, however, is the king of the tour Val Gardena: the Sella Ronda. The difference in level to deal with forces depends on the way in which you decide to take the track: clockwise meters in altitude are only 450, while counterclockwise almost reach 1,000 meters. “Our advice is to take the tour clockwise to have more strength with which to face the climbs sometimes challenging from a technical perspective,” says the school’s director.
Mark helps a little rider to his feet, after facing his first curve and falling. The child cleans his hands with his pants, laughs and grabs his bike. Clearly that has already been infected by the virus of MTB!
